If you’re traveling in Thailand with someone who has celiac disease, finding a place that truly understands gluten-free needs feels like winning the lottery. Cafe69 in Koh Samui is exactly that place, and we are so grateful we found it. Our daughter has celiac, and the staff here were genuinely knowledgeable and attentive about her dietary needs – something that is incredibly rare to come across in Thailand. It meant the world to us as parents to be able to relax and enjoy a meal together without constant worry. Now, the vibe of the place is… let’s say distinctive. Very Joe Exotic energy. But please, do not let that fool you for even a second, because the food is absolutely outstanding. Fresh, creative, full of flavor, and every dish has its own special twist that makes it memorable. This isn’t your standard tourist restaurant – the chef clearly puts real thought and passion into what comes out of that kitchen. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Koh Samui, especially if you’re traveling gluten-free!

Cafe 69 was hands down one of the best meals we had in Koh Samui. We started with the Green Curry Chicken Pie, Red Curry Dumplings and Tuna Tartare, and every dish was incredible. The Green Curry Pie in particular was something I’ve never had before and absolutely loved. For mains, the Soft Shell Crab in Black Pepper Sauce was a standout, but the Kao Soi Grilled River Prawn stole the show. The flavours were unreal and the presentation was stunning. What I loved most was how creative the menu is while still feeling authentic and packed with flavour. You can tell a lot of thought goes into every dish. Great service, great atmosphere and food that genuinely lives up to the hype. Easily a 10/10 meal.

Absolutely outstanding food. Creative yet still authentically Thai, and genuinely some of the best food we’ve had on our trip to Ko Samui. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive, clearly passionate about the menu. He took the time to walk us through recommendations and explain the dishes, which made the experience even better. For starters we had the green curry chicken pie, tuna tartare, and duck red curry dumplings- all were exceptional, packed with flavour and beautifully presented. For mains, the stewed beef cheek with holy basil was tender and delicious, and the soft shell crab Pad Thai was fantastic. Every dish looked as good as it tasted. The restaurant itself is cosy and quirky, with unique decor and presentation that really sets it apart. Portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. The owner also recommended the lamb shank massaman, which we’ll definitely be back to try next time. Highly recommend booking during busier times, although we were lucky to walk straight in as a table for two. We’ll absolutely be coming back if we’re ever in Ko Samui again.
