Kanok Buri Resort

“Rooms are nice, reception staff is terrible ” The reception staff is terrible. Had we not already paid for the room, we would have turned around and walked out. The girl at the counter was incredibly rude, she had a nasty attitude before I even said anything to her. No hello, no welcome to Kanok Buri Resort. Nothing, just a “give me your passport”. I showed her my Agoda booking while looking for my passport and she snapped at me again asking for my passport, it hadn’t even been 20 seconds. I gave her my passport, my Thai pink card and my daughter’s Thai pink card and my husband’s Thai ID. Then she tried to charge me extra for my daughter even though their policy stated that 12 and under are free. She said it was 4 and under, I showed her the hotel’s website and their policy. She still tried to argue, even though she was looking right at it. She tried to insist that my daughter was 12, even though she was holding my daughter’s Thai pink card with her age clearly displayed. She also started yelling at me to make sure the sitcom was turned any lower than 22. I told her 22 is cold enough, I usually keep it at 25 at home anyways. Then she screamed at me again about not going lower than 22. This lady was a nightmare, she should not be in any position where she’s dealing with customers. She’s 100% rude and unprofessional. Finally, another staff person came out and told the girl that she was wrong about trying to charge extra for my daughter. She charged my daughter for an extra breakfast, I didn’t even care at that point. After that, I had zero desire to even stay at this hotel. I’ve never felt so unwelcome anywhere in my life, especially where I am a paying customer. We stayed in one of the private plunge pool suites. The room was ok, but as I said, I already felt very uncomfortable in the hotel and at that point, I just wanted to go home. The breakfast wasn’t very good, but the staff that worked the breakfast area were very nice. We live in Koh Phangan, but have to come to Samui quite often for things we can’t get on the other island. We will not be staying at this hotel again. There are plenty of other, nicer hotels that make people feel welcome when they stay. I have included photos of their policy for children staying in rooms and another review, where the child was not charged extra for breakfast.

We booked the private pool villa (not tropical, the other). We stayed in 708 and it was a great pleasure. The entryway towards the villa is filled with beautiful tropical flowers and plants. The villa intself had a ring, was lockable and had a sign „clean up / do not disturb“ - I found that very helpful and discrete. Inside, we had a wonderful pool which was refreshing in the summer heat, two pool loungers with a parasol. And a table with two seats under a pagoda. Twice a day - and on request - the pool had a little waterfall. The pool was not for swimming and was quite flat, but if you sat down inside the pool you could get your whole body in. The room itself was nice and pretty, bedroom had an AC. Bathroom did not but I’ve never missed it. The beach was really beautiful, super clear water and not at all crowded. You can see a really beautiful sunset there. The included breakfast was okay, you get toast and Marmelade, fruits, sausages, fresh eggs. I would definitely go there again and the price-quality-relation was great. Could easily order grab for food and groceries or walk by foot.

Quirky set up, situated in palms with walkways around. Breakfast good but other food average. Shut the bar early every night. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, too many steps, no railings/banisters. Small pool
