“We went to The Shack based on a recommendation from our resort, and it ended up being a great choice. My husband has somewhat pickier, more American/western tastes, while I tend to enjoy just about everything, and we both really enjoyed our meal here. We both ordered steak. My husband had the Japanese Wagyu, and I had the Australian fillet. I paired mine with a Malbec, and he had a local beer. He also ordered two jumbo prawns. To start, they brought complimentary garlic bread, and at the end of the meal they treated us to limoncello as a dessert course, which was a very nice touch. The steaks were excellent—high quality and cooked perfectly. We both chose the garlic mashed potatoes as our side. They were fine, though nothing particularly memorable. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. The staff were attentive, kind, and clearly worked well as a team. Even the manager stopped by to welcome us and brought over some homemade chimichurri sauce for us to try. We appreciated the American/western-style menu as a nice break from Thai food during our trip. We also enjoyed the music and décor. They played American oldies throughout the evening, and the walls featured music and pop culture icons like Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. As John Coltrane fans, we especially appreciated seeing his poster. There was even a Beatles poster featuring the band in front of an American flag. From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt genuinely welcomed. The manager, our server, and several other staff members greeted us and said goodbye. We were also offered warm rolled hand towels to clean our hands, another thoughtful touch. The restaurant offers open-air dining right along the street near Fisherman’s Village. While there are no ocean views, it makes for excellent people-watching. Service was attentive, food arrived quickly, and everything we ordered was very good. One tip: make reservations. They are busy, and you should not expect to walk in and get a table. We tried on our first night without a reservation and couldn’t get in. We made reservations the next day for that evening and had no problem getting seated. We would definitely recommend The Shack and would happily return.”
